Entrepreneur: Public Ally Number One

Even thirty years after the transition to capitalism, Croatian entrepreneurs have not been able to shake off negative public perceptions. A study by the Institute of Economics showed that more than a third of economics students believe that entrepreneurs do not have a positive image in society. Is it possible that the stigma of transition and privatization has left a lasting impression on the segment of society considered a key driver of economic development in more successful countries? Or is it a more complex issue and a consequence of a specific cultural heritage? The fact is that according to basic macroeconomic indicators, Croatia is at the bottom of the European Union. What is the reason for the low productivity of the business sector and even lower level of competitiveness on global markets? The reason may be the lack of inventiveness and innovation of the private sector. However, many have warned that the real problem lies in sterile economic policies and the excessive influence of the state.
