Principal Architect

Alen Žunić stands as one of Croatia’s most successful young architects. With his education and specialized training from prestigious institutions like Harvard, MIT, ETH Zürich, and Columbia University in New York, Žunić, despite being only 30 years old, brings vast international experience to his architectural practice at Albatross – Architecture + Research Office in Zagreb. There, he leads a team of talented young architects working on projects ranging from large-scale urban designs to individual buildings. In addition to his architectural creations, Žunić is a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, where he earned his Ph.D. at the remarkably young age of 26. Beyond his design work, he engages in scientific research, earning him the highest recognitions such as the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Award, the City of Zagreb Award, and the ‘Vera Johanides’ Award for the best young scientist in Croatia, presented by the Croatian Academy of Technical Sciences. Žunić has authored and edited 15 books, including multiple editions of the Anthological Architectural Guide to Zagreb, which stands as the best-selling architectural book in Croatia to date.
