Under the slogan #SAMODOĐI, Weekend.15 has begun. This unique annual event gathers numerous foreign and domestic experts from a wide range of industries at the well-known premises of the Old Tobacco Factory in Rovinj. Through till Sunday, September 25, this popular Istrian destination will host some of the most famous names from the world of media, communications, technology, music, economy, and innovation, as well as espionage, gastronomy and sports. This is precisely the greatest asset of the entire Weekend Media Festival project, which will certainly be remembered this year as well, and not only for speakers such as Yossi Melman, a top expert on espionage and international security; Vuk Vuković, a renowned Croatian macroeconomist; Michael Selden, director of the company Finless Foods; and Jelena Đoković, co-founder of the Novak Đoković Foundation; but also because of the excellent music program that will be inaugurated tonight by Darko Rundek and the Croatian Radio Television Jazz Orchestra.
“The organization of this event these past 15 years has required a huge amount of effort, work and persistence. We implemented our professional knowledge in every edition of the Weekend, which over time has become the largest regional conference. From a simple vision of a gathering of leading marketing enthusiasts to a successful transformation into an event leader, we have primarily been motivated by the immense satisfaction of visitors, whose number has increased every year. People are educated, entertained and inspired at the Weekend, and they often make successful new business contacts. Excellent networking in an informal environment is the fundamental pillar of the event, whose superior influence I am more and more proud of every September,” emphasized Tomo Ricov, festival director and program director.
Visitors to the 15th edition of the Festival will be able to enjoy almost 40 panels, lectures and discussions, as well as a great entertainment program—featuring Darko Rundek, the biggest regional star of the moment Konstrakt and Zemlja Gruva, as well as musical sensation Vojko V, and Matija Cvek & The Funkensteins—which will surely contribute to boosting excellent attendance numbers.
“The weekend has become an institution. It’s a place of inspiration, education, socializing and making deals on the last summer weekend in one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic. For this reason, the exceptional turnout of guests from Croatia and the entire region is not surprising. We are especially proud that this year we are also hosting the prestigious Golden Drum, one of the most important European creative festivals which awards the very best creative achievements. This co-branding will give us additional freshness and inspiration!” said Božo Skoko, a member of the programming team from Millenium promocije, the festival’s partner agency.
The exciting news is that two more special events will be held as part of Weekend.15, namely the awarding of prizes to the winners of the domestic FoodTech start-up competition—which started at the Weekend Food Festival—organized by Infobip, Maistra and Pepermint, and the prestigious Golden Drum festival, which annually celebrates the best ideas, the most successful creative teams and skilled individuals who have effectively brought innovative strategies to life and thus left their mark on the creative industry.
