Petar Štefanić was born in 1973 in Podgorica, Montenegro. He earned his degree in philosophy and linguistics at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. His career in journalism, which spanned 18 years, began in 2001 when he started working in the domestic politics newsroom of the public Croatian Radio. In 2005, he moved to the public broadcaster HRT to work as an editor and host of the evening political programme Otvoreno, after which he moved on to edit and host a series of highly rated, mostly political investigative programmes such as Post Scriptum, Dossier.hr, Spektar, and Labirint. At the same time, he worked as a journalist for HRT’s evening news programme and reporter for the political show Latinica, as well as editing and hosting the late evening news. In 2016, Štefanić left HRT and started working at N1 TV as an editor and host of the evening programme Pressing, which aired three times a week. He hosted a variety of protagonists from Croatia’s social and political life, as well as culture and sports. In late 2019, Štefanić left journalism and started his own communications company, Word. He now uses his extensive media experience to prepare clients for media appearances, and also hosts conferences and panels. Among his clients are political parties and elected officials, leading business managers from large Croatian companies, as well as public servants and individuals from a wide range of fields. As a sought-after conference and panel host, Štefanić has moderated well-known tech conferences such as the Bug Future Show, Debug, and Windays, media conferences such as the popular Weekend Media Festival, as well as Greencajt, a conference on green policy and sustainability.
