CHANGING THE GAME: HOW THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY CAN CREATE ADDED VALUE FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND SOCIETY

Changing the game: How the video game industry can create added value for children, youth, and society

As the 21st century advances, online video games have ascended to the pinnacle of popular entertainment, rapidly expanding into a global industry. This wave of growth has not left Croatia untouched, where the gaming landscape has undergone significant transformation in recent years. While this form of digital entertainment offers numerous benefits and opportunities for children, it simultaneously presents potential risks. The key questions that arise are – How do Croatian children and young people interact with video games? Can gaming offer benefits while ensuring their safety? What measures can the video game industry implement to foster digital environments that uphold children’s rights and well-being? On this panel organized by UNICEF, we will learn how experts responsible for protecting child rights and well-being, as well as representatives from the video game industry, view this topic.
