Law and order

After 10 years, Croatia will get a new Law on Electronic Media, which is currently in parliamentary procedure.

The first draft of the law caused dissatisfaction due to the strict provisions related to editorial responsibility for public comments published below articles. But this provision has been reformulated. The responsibility of the media will now be to report the author of the comment. The article of the law banning vertical integration was also removed. What does this mean, for example, for N1 television? It has been announced that the new law will introduce provisions that will oblige media outlets to show ownership and sources of funding in a very transparent way. Will the often-mentioned corruption in media and illicit cartels be put to an end? What, in fact, is changing?
