Whoever thinks that TikTok is just another social network and that it is used only by teenagers who have nothing better to do, is quite naive. Aljaž Peklaj, partner and strategic director at Bold Group, emphasized to a packed hall that Generation Z already uses TikTok instead of Google as their favorite and most used search engine; while Netflix called TikTok its biggest competitor in 2020. Today, Peklaj emphasized, TikTok literally eats them for breakfast because people spend almost three times more time on TikTok than on Netflix.

In order to vividly prove that people really do prefer the authentic content offered by TikTok to the algorithm-optimized one offered by Google, Peklaj admitted in front of an audience of 350 people that he and his girlfriend spent more than three hours on TikTok searching for the ideal destination for their vacation as well as fun activities that each destination offers, without even thinking of planning their dream vacation on Google.

The panel TikTok – the platform that will bring the biggest players on the market to its knees”, presented TikTok as the platform of the future, but also of the present. Domen Rozman, CEO of Dunking Devils Studios, has clients from various industries around the world, and offers them personalized, proven successful TikTok marketing strategies. He underlined that the advantages of TikTok are unrivalled. The platform is ideal for increasing visibility, reaching a specific target audience, and getting brands closer to their potential users while achieving organic growth more easily.

Rozman shared some useful tips for those who want to improve their profile on TikTok. The most important thing, he said, is to place an emphasis on authenticity – or you can simply hire professionals like him and his colleagues at Dunking Devils Studios. People are bored with artificial and rigged content offered by other platforms that appear too perfect. TikTok is an excellent platform for turning trends into inspiration that lead to creativity, and Rozman illustrated all these tried and tested tips and tricks with the help of trending videos on TikTok, which brought smiles of recognition to the audience.

The dynamic and attractive panel was completed by the even more dynamic Matej Rimanič, director and TikTok content creator who wants to be the first Slovenian to win an Oscar. He immediately apologized for his bad accent and emphasized that he is not a Russian spy, but rather a young student from Slovenia who makes films and TikToks. His success in this regard was proven by the fact that he won the main prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for his short Tiktok film Love in Plane Sight. With a lot of self-confidence, and the drive to one day start his own company, he stressed that authenticity, innovation, and acceptance of one’s own imperfections are the keys to success on TikTok.

Peklaj also showed that TikTok can be used as a platform to raise awareness of important issues and social problems with the exclusive premiere of a video that is part of a campaign to prevent domestic violence against children. As a reward for their patience, the audience was given the opportunity to download an online manual for creating a successful TikTok strategy.
