The third edition of the FoodTech Startup Competition, held as part of the Weekend Media Festival, once again brought together talented participants, with a special focus on participants from the region. The competition attracted entries from around the world this year as well, further confirming the global interest in sustainable and innovative solutions in the food industry.
One of the key successes of this competition is the noticeable increase in the quality of the projects submitted. This year, concepts focusing on sustainability, functional foods, and technological solutions for waste reduction stood out.
This year’s winner, Crumbs, also focuses on the issue of sustainability. This innovative app addresses the challenge of food waste, noting that in Croatia, an average of 71 kg of food per person is thrown away, 40% of which is still edible. Crumbs allows users to purchase surplus food from restaurants, bakeries, and other catering establishments at discounted prices. Through the app, users can find meals that were not sold during the day but are still fresh and tasty, contributing to waste reduction and providing access to more affordable meals.
In addition to numerous awards, the most valuable prize for Crumbs is the use of Infobip services worth 20,000 euros for their platform.
Also, in the “Best of the Best in Retail” category, the winner was Nutty, whose healthy snacks attracted attention, and their success was rewarded with marketing support from Kaufland worth 30,000 euros.
The visitors of the award ceremony enjoyed breakfast and sweet surprise packages prepared by Maistra Hospitality Group, and the luckiest ones had the opportunity to win Kaufland vouchers.
We thank all participants for their creativity and enthusiasm and look forward to future challenges and ideas that will shape the future of the FoodTech industry. We invite everyone interested to join us next year and become part of this exciting community. Until then, see you at the Weekend Food Festival!
