Andrija Jarak reports from the stage of Weekend.17

Proof that we in the Balkans have our own “True Crime” genre includes numerous TV shows, specialized articles, essays, and a strong public interest in such topics. The way this subject is covered in the media and the reasons behind public interest will also be discussed at Weekend.17, moderated by the legend of TV journalism—Andrija Jarak. The well-known host, journalist, and creator of the series “Dosje Jarak” will join other panelists on “True Crime Balkan” to provide insights into the key processes behind criminal investigations and documentation in the region, discuss the best TV shows dedicated to this topic, analyze crime reporting, and reveal the secrets of media personalities involved in these matters.

Filip Švarm, a prominent long-time editor of the weekly “Vreme,” will share his experiences with the most significant cases of Serbian mafia and notorious murders that have shaken the region. Among other things, Švarm is the author of documentaries about the Red Berets and the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, which provoked a wave of criticism in mainstream media and demonstrated Švarm’s willingness to confront controversial topics and explore truths often avoided by others.

Vladimir Faber, former Chief of Police and wartime commander of the special unit “ALFA,” will share his experiences and perspectives on the challenges he faced in solving the most complex crime cases in Croatia, including those related to Ivo Pukanić, Zvonimir Hodak, and Branimir Glavaš.

Dario Todorović, a journalist and reporter for RTL with experience in RTL Danas and RTL Direkt, is also the author of the documentary special “Potraga: Zavadlav” about Filip Zavadlav, the murderer of three young men in Split, which has received praise from both professionals and the public. In the series “Dosje Jarak,” Todorović is a writer, director, and co-creator of this significant project with Andrija Jarak.
